Our Promise
to Landowners

Dear Landowners,

Our hard work is aligned with your interests because a successful project outcome means secured income for all of us. Your land may have been in your family for generations. We understand that committing it to a new future is serious, and has implications to your grandchildren that extend beyond the financial outcome. We raised our family on a Pennsylvania maple farm (a hobby) and share the connection to land. Our Principals can name every landowner (hundreds) of each project as we maintain the relationships we built.

What People Are Saying

“With commodity pricing being so volatile, it’s nice to be able to rely on steady predictable income from the solar farm.”

Mark Kolish, Landowner

We have gone from being a consumer of energy to farm our fields to now farming solar fields to produce energy. In addition, I really like the concept of conserving the soil for future generations while still harvesting energy every day.

Norm Welker, Landowner

“We have to develop alternative energy. Solar is better for the environment. We are doing our part to help combat climate change.

Swanson’s Farms

Growing up in central Wisconsin, I cherished the rural setting of my family’s property. Hunting, fishing and nature were huge parts of my childhood. Today, with the Vista Sands Solar Project, that same land provides a chance to support our community’s well-being while ensuring that I can keep the family property for my children and grandchildren well into the future.

The Vista Sands Solar Project will deliver enough energy to power more than 200,000 Wisconsin homes — more than enough to cover every household in Portage County — and presents a unique opportunity to bolster our local economy with over $1 billion in initial investments to the region and millions more in shared revenue to local governments.

Vista Sands offers not only financial security but also a sustainable legacy for the region. This cutting-edge project is environmentally beneficial and positions Portage County as a leader in homegrown renewable energy in Wisconsin. It also allows landowners like me to team up with responsible developers, so we can do what’s best for our families while participating in the economic viability of our community.

I couldn’t be any more impressed with how Vista Sands has worked with landowners like me — answering questions, negotiating terms, providing for local environmental concerns and ensuring in writing that, at the project’s completion, all equipment will be removed and the land left in its original condition — or better.

I am excited to play a small part in the project, and I hope others will join me in embracing this incredible opportunity.

The goal is to have an operating project that provides consistent income, regardless of the weather, for decades to come. Project development is a three-step process:

01

Development

During development, we incorporate feedback from local landowners and officials to design the project. We perform environmental and engineering studies to minimize the impacts from the project. During this period, payments are made to our landowners to hold the development rights but farming operations can continue without interruption. This period may last 3-4 years.

02

Construction

Once the project is “shovel-ready” and goes to construction, a much larger investment is made. Your payments from the project increase significantly. Regular uses of the property transform to the responsibility of the solar facility. Your income is secured for decades.

03

Operations

Upon completion of construction, the project becomes an operating solar farm. Your land is now benefiting the community and the planet by creating low-cost, clean renewable energy. Eventually, when the lease ends, the land is restored to its original condition.
